Eight Below is a remake of the 1983 Japanese film "Antarctica", crafted by Toshirô Ishidô, Koreyoshi Kurahara, Tatsuo Nogami, and Susumu Saji. Directed by Frank Marshall, this two-hour feature recounts the tale of a guide stationed at an Antarctic research outpost who risks everything to rescue his loyal sled dogs.

Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker) serves as a guide at the National Science Foundation's Antarctic research facility. In January 1993, he's tasked with escorting UCLA professor Dr. Davis McClaren (Bruce Greenwood) to Mount Melbourne in search of a rare meteorite from Mercury. However, the journey proves perilous due to treacherous terrain.

The expedition results in Dr. Davis sustaining injuries. So, he has to be evacuated. Facing an imminent storm, Jerry is compelled to leave his eight dogs behind in the heart of Antarctica.

Reluctant to depart yet unable to remain, Jerry embarks on his journey, vowing to return for his faithful companions despite the myriad challenges ahead.
