Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) is just a regular teenager living with her mom in San Francisco, until her life takes an unexpected twist.

Her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews), from the small kingdom of Genovia, reveals a big secret. Mia is actually a princess! And after her dad's passing, she's the next in line for the throne! Mia heads to Genovia to learn how to be a princess.

Initially, Mia is seen as the "not-so-pretty" girl with glasses, braces, and really frizzy hair. But as she steps into her role as a princess, she goes through a big makeover. What's next for Princess Mia?

This fun story, based on Meg Cabot's novel, was turned into a movie by Disney in 2001. Its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, came out in 2004. Both movies are cherished Disney classics that continue to be loved by fans around the world.
