STORYLINE
Le souffle au cœur or Murmur of the Hearts is a French comedy-drama film that was released in 1971. The movie was written, produced and directed by Louis Malle. It tells the story of an forbidden relationship between a mother and an innocent 14-year-old boy.
The teenager's name is Laurent Chevalier (Benoît Ferreux). He was 14 years old when his two older brothers led Laurent into many negative things, from stealing to prostitution. At one point, Laurent became ill and had to be intensively treated. Before entering the sanatorium, he and his mother, Clara (Lea Massari) stayed at a hotel together.
Whatever possessed Laurent, he began to have relationships with the girls in the hotel. Not only that, Laurent's sexual desire now drives him to have sex with his mother. Surprisingly, Clara doesn't mind. Afterward, Clara asks Laurent not to do it again and Laurent leaves to have sex with two other girls.
