Ma mère

In 1966, a posthumous novel entitled Ma Mère by George Bataille, was released and quite shocked its readers. The story even caught the attention of director Christophe Honoré who immediately made a movie version of the same name. This erotic drama film was released in 2004 with almost all of its dialog using French.

The movie tells the story of Pierre (Louis Garrel), a 17-year-old boy who lives with his parents. After his father dies, his 43-year-old mother, Hélène (Isabelle Huppert), claims to have a wild and problematic life. Hélène then drags Pierre into her dark world. She even takes her son to an orgy.

An unpleasant incident eventually occurs between Pierre and his mother, and makes Hélène to take the difficult decision to distance herself from her son to prevent further complications.

Upon Hélène's return, however, she is once again entangled in an inappropriate relationship with Pierre. Who could have predicted that this relationship would lead to tragedy? Can Hélène find a resolution to this problem?
