STORYLINE
Inspired by the works of Ken Loach, director Ira Sachs along with musician Michael Rohatyn finally wrote the screenplay for Ira's movie Forty Shades of Blue. The independent drama film released in 2005 was so successful in the movie market that it won an award at the Grand Jury event.
Lasting 108 minutes, the movie tells the story of a boy's illicit relationship with his stepmother. The story begins when a music producer named Alan (Rip Torn) is in relationship with Laura (Dina Korzun), a woman 30 years his junior. Although living in wealth, Laura is unhappy and lonely.
Meanwhile, Alan has a son named Michael (Darren E. Burrows) from a previous marriage. Michael, a married literature professor, has a tense relationship with his father. Conflict arises when Michael returns to his parents' home and meets Laura.
Although Michael initially dislikes Laura as his stepmother, their sentiments gradually change. They become fond of each other and secretly have a romantic relationship that changes their lives forever.
