The story is set in 1943 and follows a young boy named Flyora (Aleksey Kravchenko) and his friend as they join the Soviet partisans, armed with SVT-40 rifles. Flyora is soon trusted as a militia member. His world turns upside down when he returns to find his village in ruins after a German invasion.
