Trinil: Kembalikan Tubuhku

Indonesia's horror movie industry is booming, and remakes of classic horror stories are especially popular. This has inspired many filmmakers to explore more of this genre.

In early 2024, the renowned director Hanung Bramantyo made a notable return to horror cinema with Trinil: Kembalikan Tubuhku. This film, a remake of a popular 1980s horror radio drama, marks his first horror movie in 17 years.

The plot centers on a couple, Rara and Sutan, who inherit a large tea plantation in Central Java from their parents. Rara decides to look after the plantation, while Sutan keeps his job as a nurse.

But as Rara starts to renovate her new tea garden, she encounters mysterious and spooky events. The story reaches its peak when a ghost, without a body, starts haunting her, demanding that she and Sutan return his body.
