STORYLINE
Who could have imagined Bradley Cooper stepping behind the camera to direct? In "Maestro," not only does he direct, but he also takes on the roles of the main actor, writer, and producer.
The film traces the illustrious yet turbulent life of Leonard Bernstein (Bradley Cooper), a legendary composer who rose to fame in 1943 with his debut as a conductor. That same year, he met and fell in love with Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan), who would become his wife. Their marriage initially seemed idyllic.
However, their happiness was short-lived. Leonard's life spiraled out of control when he became embroiled in an affair, just as Felicia was diagnosed with cancer. His subsequent descent into the world of drugs nearly ruined his career. Devastated by Felicia's death in 1978, Leonard faced the daunting task of piecing his life back together.
