Charlie Day

With his unique voice, the man born February 9, 1976 in New York often contributes his voice to animated films that are successful at the box office. As a producer in several movies he starred in, Charlie Day has now embarked on a journey as a director.

Apart from acting, he is also good at playing various musical instruments and writes most of the songs for the sitcoms he stars in. Surprisingly, he earned an honorary doctorate of arts degree from Merrimack College. Instead of just wondering about his filmography, let's explore the full list in the article below!

1. The LEGO Movie

The LEGO Movie

Along his journey, Emmet receives a lot of help, including support from Benny, a Master Builder dressed as an astronaut from the 1980s.

Benny's voice, lent by Charlie Day, perfectly captures Benny in building a spaceship. Day's distinctive tone is also precisely repeated in the sequel, "The LEGO Movie 2: Part Two" (2019), where Benny's character gets metallic-colored arms.

2. I Want You Back

I Want You Back

Emma, who manages to reconnect Anne with Peter, is disappointed by the events that transpire and their plan fails. Peter, however, realizes that Anne was never sincere with him, which makes him brave enough to confess his feelings for Emma during Noah's wedding.

This romantic comedy movie, available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, stars Charlie Day and Jenny Slate in the lead roles. In fact, Charlie Day also serves as the executive producer for the movie.

Filled with laughter, the movie thrives on Charlie Day's comedic antics, which are imbued with his endearing awkwardness. His authentic chemistry with Jenny Slate further enhances their on-screen relationship.

3. Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim

Newt, an honorable Kaiju expert, is entrusted with uncovering weaknesses in the Kaiju to aid the Jaeger pilots in their battle against the abyssal creatures rising from the depths of the sea. By studying the Kaiju's brain tissue, Newt discovers the fascinating connections between their nests and brains, increasing their understanding of this colossal threat.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the maestro behind this sci-fi action film, Charlie Day is given the freedom to bring his character to life. He plays Dr. Newt with an eccentric style, reminiscent of a celebrity chef, complete with tattooed arms and a confident, charismatic speaking style.

In the sequel to this movie, "Pacific Rim: Uprising" (2018), Dr. Newt embarks on the creation of drone technology meant to make the outdated Jaeger obsolete. However, his involvement with the Kaiju brain in the first movie took a turn for the evil. He became a villain, engineering a hybrid technology with Kaiju brains at its core, which carried dangerous implications.

4. Horrible Bosses

Horrible Bosses

Nick, Dale and Kurt are three friends who share the same fate in the workplace. They all have annoying bosses. Dale, who works as Julia's dental assistant, is constantly threatened to expose their affair to Dale's wife, unless he gets involved in another relationship with his attractive boss.

Acting on Dean's advice, they devise a plan to kill their respective bosses, but it ends in failure and chaos. They even find themselves caught up in a murder case they didn't commit.

Directed by Seth Gordon, the comedy has earned praise for the skillful performances of its cast, including Charlie Day as Dale.

Day skillfully acts as an employee who is sexually intimidated by his attractive boss. After going through the motions, Dale is finally able to stop Julia's threats to him.

Charlie Day, along with Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis, repeated their roles in the sequel, "Horrible Bosses 2" (2014), which, while not achieving the success of its predecessor, still earned praise for its cast's comedic abilities amidst a slight dip in quality and revenue.

Immersed in a neo-noir atmosphere, this action-packed thriller stars a superb cast, including Charlie Day who plays Acapulco, an obnoxious arms dealer.

Luigi landed in the Dark Lands and became a prisoner of Bowser who was about to attack Princess Peach's Mushroom Kingdom where Mario was now. With help from Princess Peach and Donkey Kong, Mario tries to save Luigi.

This animated film adaptation of the popular video game did receive mixed responses. The quality still looks not optimal, but the audience really likes it and makes this film one of the best-selling films in 2023.

Charlie Day as the voice of Luigi managed to describe his character well through his distinctive voice color and fast way of speaking. His combination with Chris Pratt who voices Mario is very solid. Uniquely, this movie is not the first time they have met, they have previously voiced in The LEGO Movie (2014) and its sequel.

In this heartwarming drama-comedy, directed by director John Krasinski, Charlie Day plays Jason - the nurse who cares for John's ill mother in the hospital.

Even more complicated, Jason is married to Gwen, John's ex-fiancée, and they have a child. His anxiety stems from his jealousy of John's presence, fueled by his belief that Gwen still has love for her former lover.

8. Fist Fight

Fist Fight

After learning about the downsizing that would take place in the school's organizational structure, Andy was stricken with panic. His worries are compounded when he anticipates the arrival of his second child.

Afraid of being fired, Andy recounted all the events that led to the firing of Ron. Feeling upset, Ron chooses to challenge Andy to a physical confrontation - a fistfight.

In this comedy story, Charlie Day plays Andy, who attempts to avoid the inevitable fight with Ron - an effort that seems beyond his control.

Fist Fight offers a promising premise with a roster of prominent Hollywood comedians. Unfortunately, the movie's shallow script and lackluster comedic execution contributed to its lack of quality and disappointing box office results.

The comedy-drama film by director and star Louis C.K. features a series of big Hollywood names in its cast. In this movie, Charlie Day acts as Ralph, Glen's chatty and cynical trusted person. Ralph's musings often leave Glen confused and agitated, especially when it comes to the tribulations involving his daughter.
