The Rite

The Rite is a supernatural horror film from 2011, directed by Mikael Håfström and written by Michael Petroni, inspired by the true experiences of a pastor named Gary Thomas.

The movie's story begins with Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), a man who is reluctantly forced to participate in a seminar. Initially, he is convinced that possession is related to mental health issues rather than demonic forces. However, the situation leads him to go on an educational trip about exorcism at the Vatican.

Despite his initial hesitation, Michael continues to take lessons with Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), an experienced exorcist. Father Lucas introduces Michael to a variety of gruesome exorcisms, which deeply changes his perspective on the ritual.

Motivated by his experiences, Michael decides to go deeper into the study of exorcism and eventually becomes a priest dedicated to helping those who struggle with the supernatural.
