The Lost City of Z

In 2009, author David Grann wrote an impressive biography about a British major who disappeared in the Amazon jungle during an important mission. This story inspired director James Gray to create a film called "The Lost City of Z," released in 2016.

The movie is set in 1905 and follows Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), a British major with a talent for hunting. The Royal Geographical Society asks him to map the border between Bolivia and Brazil. While on this job, Percy stumbles upon clues of a hidden, ancient city in the Amazon.

This discovery grabs Percy's curiosity. After his spying work ends, he decides to search for this mythical city. He gets funding from John D. Rockefeller Jr. for an expedition. But soon after Percy steps into the Amazon, he vanishes, leading his fellow explorers to go looking for him.
