The Equalizer

"The Equalizer," a 2014 American action-thriller starring Denzel Washington, brings to life a story inspired by a 1980s TV series. This film portrays the journey of a retired Marine and former DIA agent who comes to the aid of a teenage girl ensnared by the Russian mafia. The movie centers on Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), who, after leaving his demanding role at the United States Defense Intelligence Agency, finds a semblance of peace working as a manager in a hardware store. Here, he forms a bond with a young teenager named Teri. Her life, however, is far from peaceful; she is under the control of a ruthless Russian mobster, Slavi (David Meunier), who subjects her to harsh treatment.

Moved by her plight, Robert attempts to negotiate with Slavi, but the encounter quickly turns violent, resulting in Slavi's death. This act of defiance places Robert in the sights of Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich), the head of the mob, who seeks vengeance. The film then follows Robert's intense and strategic battle against the mob, showcasing his resourcefulness and determination.
