The Blackening

The Blackening is an American horror comedy film directed by Tim Story and inspired by a 2018 short film created by the comedy group 3Peat. The film stars Perkins, Grace Byers, and Jermaine Fowler, and tells the story of a group of teenagers who's targeted for murder.

The story starts during the Juneteenth holiday, which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. A group of friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the woods for a getaway. One night, they are startled by a mysterious voice that coerces them into playing a racist game.

As the game begins, tragedy strikes when one of the teenagers, Shawn (Jay Pharoah), is killed. His friend, Morgan (Yvonne Orji), is horrified by the loss. The voice then starts to threaten Morgan directly. To prevent any more deaths, Morgan's friends rally to protect her and find the identity of the person behind the threats.
