Shortcomings

"Shortcomings" is a 2023 American comedy-drama movie that marks the directorial debut of Randall Park, who also serves as a co-producer. The story tells the journey of a couple facing the uncertainty of their future together.

Ben Tagawa (Justin H. Min) is an aspiring filmmaker who decides to drop out of college mid-way through. With no clear direction, he lives with his girlfriend, Miko (Ally Maki), who works diligently as staff at a film festival. Ben's days are mostly spent with his friend Alice (Sherry Cola).

This obviously upsets Miko. So, she decides to go to New York for an internship. Due to their long distance relationship, their communication slowly deteriorates.

After a long time apart, Alice asks Ben to go visit Miko. As soon as he meets his girlfriend, Ben finds out that Miko has cheated on him. Now Ben is trapped in a terrible situation, with no future and no one else to rely on. Can Ben recover from this crisis?
