Ashfall

The movie is about the volcanic eruption of Mount Baekdu, which was triggered by a powerful earthquake. This catastrophic event destroys Seoul and the surrounding cities, prompting the government to call an emergency meeting.

Fearing a larger eruption, the authorities call in an explosives expert (Ha Jung Woo), a North Korean official (Lee Byung Hun), and a prominent geologist (Ma Dong Seok) to collaborate in preventing the impending disaster.

By combining their expertise, the trio work tirelessly to devise a plan to reduce the impact of the disaster and prevent wider destruction. Featuring well-known actors such as Lee Byung Hun, Ha Jung Woo, Ma Dong Seok, Jeon Hye Jin, and Bae Suzy, this action-packed thriller explores the themes of natural disasters.

Amazingly, the movie was a huge success in Korea in 2019, being one of the highest grossing movies of the year.
