The 1968 Democratic Party convention sparked major protests by activists. These activists included the moderate Students for a Democratic Society, led by Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne), and the more militant Yippies, led by Abbie Hoffman (Sacha Baron Cohen) and Jerry Rubin (Jeremy Strong).

Their protest escalated into a clash with local authorities, who accused them of inciting riots. As a result, everyone connected to the activist groups was arrested and faced trial under an unfair judge, Julius Hoffman (Frank Langella).

During the trial, Judge Julius made biased decisions and was even abusive, preventing the activists from defending themselves properly. What will the activists do to challenge the judge's decisions?
